OCEÂNICA VERSÃO EM PORTUGUÊS
Engineering delivers one more task (Urucu-Coari-Manaus)

Oceânica concluded in early February this year the contract for inspection and installation of brackets in 14 "and 20" ducts in Urucu-Coari-Manaus.

This work has great importance for the development of the Amazonic region, where almost all energy is generated in thermoelectric plants. The Local society will also benefit from the arrival of natural gas.

"The thermoelectric will be supplied with this gas, coming from Urucu oil province, and thus the cost of KW will drop substantially," said engineer and construction manager Roberto Saraiva .

The work was conducted in two phases, the first in December 2009, when the visual inspections were made in sections to be paved and the second in mid-January 2010, which consisted in the implementation of paving to provide a suitable backing ducts in the River bed. According to Roberto Saraiva, the paving of the pipeline is necessary because when in operation, if not fully supported in the riverbed, vibrations may occur that generate faults in welded joints. The pavement is made by Oceanica fitting of colloidal supports in the projected points by Petrobras to correct the free spans and thus prevent further damage to the pipeline.

The biggest challenges to implementing the contract were the heavy rains and lightning effects, typical in this period in Manaus, but these deviations were mitigated by the Oceânica´s staff with the performance of services in accordance with the requirements of safety and quality, commitment, experience of the team planning and execution.

Congratulations to all involved in one more successful work of engineering!
